The British Journal of Translational Biochemistry (BJTB) relies on expert peer reviewers to ensure the scientific quality, integrity, and credibility of published research. Reviews must be objective, constructive, timely, and confidential.

1. Role of the Reviewer
  • Assess scientific quality, originality, and relevance of the manuscript.
  • Provide clear, constructive, and unbiased feedback to authors.
  • Support editorial decision-making through professional evaluation.
2. Ethical Standards
  • Reviews must comply with COPE ethical guidance for peer reviewers.
  • ICMJE recommendations and best editorial practices should be respected.
  • Accepting a review invitation implies agreement with these standards.
3. Before Accepting a Review
  • Ensure the manuscript topic matches your subject expertise.
  • Confirm availability to complete the review within the deadline.
  • Declare any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
4. Conflicts of Interest
  • Disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts.
  • If a significant conflict exists, decline the invitation.
  • If unsure, contact the editorial office before proceeding.
5. Confidentiality
  • Do not share or discuss the manuscript with others.
  • Do not use unpublished information for personal advantage.
  • Do not upload the manuscript to external tools or public systems.
6. Review Process
  • Evaluate methodology, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Assess ethics approval and reporting standards (human/animal studies where applicable).
  • Check clarity, structure, and scientific writing.
  • Provide specific comments for authors and confidential notes for editors.
Tip: Separate your comments into Major Issues and Minor Issues for clarity.
