Manuscript Submission Guidelines

The British Journal of Translational Biochemistry (BJTB) accepts manuscripts through a structured online submission and peer-review system to ensure quality, transparency, and ethical compliance.

Quick Checklist
Use this checklist to avoid delays and immediate returns.
Item What we expect
Manuscript file Anonymous file (no author names/affiliations), includes title, abstract, keywords, main text, references, tables/figure legends.
Title page Separate file with full author details, affiliations, corresponding author, and contribution statement (ORCID recommended).
Cover letter Novelty & significance, confirmation of originality, ethics statement (if needed), conflicts of interest, suggested reviewers (optional).
Ethics & consent Ethics approval number (if applicable), consent statements, trial registration where relevant.
Figures Separate files (TIFF/JPEG/PNG), minimum 300 dpi, clear labels and legends.
Important: If your manuscript is not prepared for double-blind review, it may be returned for correction before peer review.
1. Submission System
  • All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the journal’s online system.
  • Email submissions are not accepted.
  • The corresponding author manages all communications during review and production.

3. Pre-Submission Requirements
  • Compliance with BJTB Author Guidelines and journal scope.
  • Original work not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Approval by all authors prior to submission.
  • Ethical approvals obtained where applicable.
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest and funding.
Failure to meet these requirements may result in immediate rejection.
4. Required Submission Files

4.1 Cover Letter (Mandatory)

  • Manuscript title and type
  • Novelty and significance statement
  • Confirmation of originality and author approval
  • Conflict of interest disclosure
  • Suggested reviewers (optional)

4.2 Manuscript File (Anonymous)

  • Title, abstract, keywords
  • Main text and references
  • Tables and figure legends
  • No author-identifying information

4.3 Title Page (Separate File)

  • Author names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author details
  • ORCID ID (recommended)
  • Author contribution statement

4.4 Figures

  • Separate files (TIFF, JPEG, PNG)
  • Minimum resolution: 300 dpi

4.5 Supplementary Materials (Optional)

Datasets, additional figures, protocols, multimedia, or other materials that support the manuscript.

5. Metadata Entry
Authors must accurately complete all required metadata fields during submission. Incomplete metadata may delay peer review.
6. Ethical Declarations
  • Ethics approval for human and animal studies (include approval number where applicable).
  • Informed consent statements (when required).
  • Clinical trial registration details (when applicable).
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest and funding.
7. Peer Review, Decisions, and Post-Acceptance
  • Double-blind peer review by at least two experts.
  • Editorial decisions: accept, minor/major revision, reject.
  • Revision timelines: 14 days (minor), 30 days (major).
  • Plagiarism screening and misconduct handling.
  • Copyediting, proofs, and online-first publication after acceptance.
